Physical Health: A Blueprint for a Body That Heals Itself

For years, I treated my body like a machine I could run into the ground.

I followed the conventional wisdom: work hard, push through the fatigue, and if something breaks, see a doctor for a quick fix. I was “healthy” by most standards: until I wasn’t.

Modern life puts us on a treadmill of chronic stress, poor sleep, and processed foods. We feel tired, foggy, and achy, and we assume it’s just a normal part of aging.

It isn’t.

We’re running faster and faster, but like the financial treadmill, we aren’t getting anywhere. We’re just getting more exhausted.

The “Physical Health” dimension of Irandam Innings is about getting off that treadmill.

This isn’t about extreme diets or punishing workout routines. It’s a fundamental shift in your relationship with your body. It’s about understanding that your body has an incredible, innate ability to heal itself. You just have to stop getting in its way.

This page is the blueprint for that transformation. It’s a collection of the most important lessons I learned through a painful personal crisis on the journey from just surviving to truly thriving.

My Most Important Lesson: The Humbling Health Crisis

Just as I was getting a handle on my finances, my body sent me a wake-up call I couldn’t ignore. Doctors diagnosed me with an autoimmune condition.

Naming the specific condition was not important; what mattered was the reality of my life.

I felt constant, unexplained pain all over my body. This physical state made it incredibly difficult to focus at my job, adding a layer of professional stress to my personal health crisis.

The combination of skyrocketing medical expenses and the fear of my career suffering was the catalyst that pushed me to find ways to make money and manage money that would not add more stress to my life. It was a crucial part of building a resilient foundation.

Frustrated and desperate, I became the CEO of my own health. I started joining various Facebook groups for people with similar conditions and began interacting with them. I watched countless YouTube videos and referred to scientific articles, slowly starting to understand how the body works and why diseases appear in the first place.

This led me down the rabbit hole of detox methods and trying various products, but nothing provided a real solution.

Eventually, I found the core principle I had been missing: the body can heal itself.

The best way to facilitate this is through fasting.

I learned about what happens when we fast, discovering concepts like autophagy, and I became convinced this was the path. I thought, what more can I lose?

I slowly started intermittent fasting. Initially, I didn’t see any changes and almost quit. But similar to the compounding interest concept I covered in managing money, I started seeing very minor effects.

At first, I thought it was just a placebo effect, but I later realized the small improvements had to be related to the fasting.

This motivated me to gradually increase my fasting duration. I finally tried a full day of fasting and was shocked that I didn’t feel hungry at all.

My body had become fat-adapted. This means that instead of relying on a constant supply of glucose from food for energy, my body had learned to efficiently switch to burning its own stored fat for fuel. This metabolic flexibility is a cornerstone of good health.

I was intrigued to find that our Tamil ancestors practiced “Ekadasi viradham,” a fast undertaken once every 15 days. Their ancient wisdom was profound.

I then experimented with longer fasts of 3 days and 5 days. Now, my routine is simple and sustainable. I do one 5 day fast every year, a 1 day fast every Ekadasi, and practice intermittent fasting daily.

This approach not only helped me with the autoimmune condition but also completely resolved my metabolic issues. My blood sugar levels stabilized, reversing the course of my diabetes, and my blood pressure returned to a healthy, normal range without medication.

It was proof that by giving the body the right conditions, it could systematically undo the damage caused by a modern lifestyle.

Fasting clears out the damage, but the rebuilding phase is just as important.

During my feeding periods, I focus on providing my body with the highest quality raw materials. This includes nutrient-dense whole foods and targeted nutritional supplements that support cellular repair and function.

It is important to state that this is my personal journey. Before making any significant changes to your diet or lifestyle, especially if you have existing health conditions, it is crucial to consult with a medical professional who understands and supports your health goals.

The Hidden Saboteur: Stress

During my journey, I also realized that no diet or fasting protocol could fully work if my body was in a constant state of alarm.

Chronic stress was a major contributor to my physical health damage, pouring fuel on the inflammatory fire. Addressing the source of this stress became just as important as changing what I ate.

I cover my strategies for this in detail in the Mental Health dimension, as your mind and body are deeply connected.

The Core Principle: Your Body’s Job is to Heal

Think of your body like a self-repairing house.

When there’s damage, a dedicated crew is on standby, ready to fix things. But if you keep the house constantly busy, leaving trash everywhere, the crew never gets a chance to work.

Our modern lifestyle is that constant busyness.

We never give our bodies the downtime they need for essential maintenance. With the right conditions, the body’s ability to regenerate is astounding; some studies suggest that an organ like the liver can completely rebuild itself in as little as a year.

💡 Health Rule #1: Get Out of Your Body’s Way. The goal is to create an environment where your body’s natural healing mechanisms can switch on. It starts with a simple mindset shift: stop seeing your body as a machine to be managed and start seeing it as an intelligent system to be supported.

The Engine of Health: The Unstoppable Power of Autophagy

The single most powerful force on this healing journey is a process called autophagy. The 2016 Nobel Prize was awarded for its discovery, and it’s your body’s ultimate cleanup and recycling program.

Autophagy literally means “self-eating.” It’s a process where your body identifies and removes old, damaged, and dysfunctional cells, including precancerous ones, and recycles their components to create new, healthy cells.

Imagine a deep-cleaning crew that only comes out when the house is empty and quiet. This crew finds broken furniture and faulty wiring, breaks it down, and uses the raw materials to build new, better things. That’s autophagy.

In the beginning, the changes are subtle. But over time, it becomes an unstoppable force for rejuvenation.

The most crucial ingredient for autophagy is not a pill or a supplement; it’s the absence of food. The process is triggered by fasting.

The Final Destination: A Life of Energy

When all these pieces come together, they lead to the ultimate goal: Metabolic Flexibility.

This isn’t about looking a certain way. It’s about reaching a point where your body is resilient. It’s about having the freedom to live without constant aches, brain fog, and fatigue.

It’s about having the boundless energy to pursue your passions, spend quality time with loved ones, and live a life driven by purpose, not by physical limitations.
